Description
Israel’s history was a roller coaster of faithfulness and rebellion. In a time of great wickedness, Samuel assumed a leadership role by faithfully preaching and following the Word of God. Like today immorality in Samuel’s time was rampant, and the culture was drifting away from the Lord. The book of Judges describes this time by saying, “Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” Challenged by such moral relativism, Samuel stood up for the Lord and proclaimed what was right in the midst of incredible opposition. Even when Israel rejected God as their leader for a human king, Samuel continued to serve God faithfully as High Priest of the Lord.
